Our History

Over the past 26 years, Mr. Robert Englehardt, our founder and CEO, has evolved from a private investor to a well known educator in the fundamentals of stock investing. His initial desire to build a secure financial future for his family beyond his military career eventually morphed into a greater desire to teach others how to take control of their own financial future by following key fundamentals.

Upon leaving a decade of honorable and memorable military service in 1999, Mr. Englehardt found himself working for an Orlando, Florida based hedge fund known as Tradepointe Securities where he developed his stock trading and investing techniques. Life has seemed to frequently challenged Robert over the years, as we all have experienced, and he eventually found himself with a new wife, house, car and career. All four upgrades were an improvement for his new chapter in life, but two constants remained. His passion for being an entrepreneur and his desire to invest in the stock market seemed to evolve into major aspects of his life, becoming both his business and entertainment.

His new chapter in life presented him with a number of opportunities to meet many many people from all walks of life. His friendly, outgoing and positive nature quickly caught the attention of those he encountered and friendships were established throughtout his travels. As his new friends learned more about Robert, many expressed desires to learn about investing in the stock market and a number of them began asking for tips on which stocks to invest in. After years of educating family, friends and associates on key fundamentals of investing, he grew frustrated with followers not following his recommendations as detailed, then complaining about their results. Many had asked Mr. Englehardt to invest for them, due to their lack of knowledge, experience or stomach for the stresses associated with investing in volitile markets.

For many years he declined to take an active roll with other people's investments, but always considered the possibilities of helping others when his busy schedule became more accomodating. As our world has quickly changed the last few years, market volatility and high inflation has negatively impacted a number of people close to Robert. His compassion for others drove him to take a more active roll in their financial lives and things have turned out well. His successes following key fundamentals have solidified his desires to help others and he eventually launched Black Flag Asset Management LLC.

He continues to work hard on educating others on how to achieve better financial futures, but he is now taking on a much more direct role in helping them achieve their financial goals. Educating people on the fundamentals of investing is quite rewarding, but seeing them learn the techniques involved and writing their own success stories is equally rewarding and assists him in delivering long-term value to his clients.

Being an extremely optimistic person, Robert tends to believe it's never too late to start investing and go after your dreams. Indeed, time is our greatest asset, but careful planning and educated decisions can help make up for some of that lost time we may have experienced. Starting today might not be as good as starting ten years ago, but it's much better than starting ten years from now!
